NOTE :

A candidate  can join as an officer in any of the following Ground Duty (Non-technical) Branches :

  • ADMINISTRATION BRANCH
  • ACCOUNTS BRANCH
  • LOGISTICS BRANCH
  • EDUCATION BRANCH
  • METEOROLOGY BRANCH

Q) What a person is required to do in administration branch ?

ans)  A person in administration branch is responsible for the efficient management of              both human and material resources.

Some of the officers from this branch are also selected for duties such as :

  • Air Traffic Control –  In this an individual is responsible for directing aircraft in an orderly manner within the global air traffic control system.
  • Fighter Controller –   A fighter controller has the responsibility of positioning a fighter aircraft over an enemy aircraft in an advantageous position so that the fighter can ‘attack’ and destroy the enemy aircraft.

Q) What a person is required to do in accounts branch ?

ans) A person in this branch is responsible for management of funds.

Q) What a person is required to do in logistics branch ?

ans) A Logistics officer  deals with material needs of air force, like instruments, parts,             clothing, ration and many more such type of things.

Q) What a person is required to do in education branch ?

ans) In simple term officers in this branch are Professor’s in Uniform .

Q) What a person is required to do in meteorology branch ?

ans) A Meteorological officer is to prepare and maintain some charts relating to weather           and also to give weather forecasts for planned flights. He is also responsible for the           upkeep of some special equipment connected with the same.

General Eligibility Criteria For All Branches

AGE LIMIT :

20 to 26 years

Important points :

  • The date of birth accepted by the office is that entered in the Matriculation or an equivalent examination certificate.
  • No other document relating to age will be accepted and no subsequent request for its change will be considered or granted.

Nationality :

(i) a Citizen of India, or
(ii) a subject of Bhutan, or
(iii) a subject of Nepal, or
(iv) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st January, 1962 with the
intention of permanently settling in India, or
(v) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka
and East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania,
Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanently
settling in India.
Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) and (v) above shall
be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the
Government of India.
Certificate of eligibility will, however, not be necessary in the case of candidates
who are Gorkha subjects of Nepal.

MARTIAL STATUS :

Candidates below the age of 25 years should be unmarried.

SALARY :

FOR IST OFFICER RANK Lt. and their equivalent ranks in Air force and                                  Navy.

(i) Fixed Stipend for Cadet Training :
Stipend to Gentlemen or Lady Cadets during the entire duration of training in Service       academies i.e. during training period at IMA or OTA or AFA is Rs 56,100/-p.m.*

(ii) On Successful Completion Of Training you will start earning your full salary, which          is in between Rs 56,100 – Rs 1,77,500.

Type Of Commission :

In all of the above mentioned branches males candidates can take either of the commission i.e permanent commission or short service commission but females are eligible only for short service commission .

NOTE –

  • permanent commission (PC) –

    In this commission a person can work up to his retirement.

  • short service commission (SSC) –

    In this commission a person can work only for 10 years, or can extend his service up to 14 years.

 NOTE :

Both males & females are eligible to apply in any one of the above branches.

EDUCATION QUALIFICATION :

FOR ADMINISTRATION BRANCH –

  • Candidate should have Graduate Degree (Minimum three year degree course) in any discipline from a recognised university with 60% marks or equivalent
  • or cleared section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India)
  • or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognised university with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.

FOR ACCOUNTS BRANCH –

  • B.Com degree (minimum three year degree course) from a recognised university with a minimum 60% marks or equivalent.

FOR LOGISTICS BRANCH –

  • A candidate is required to have a Graduate Degree (Minimum three year degree course) in any discipline from a recognised university with 60% marks or equivalent
  • or cleared section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India)
  • or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognised university with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.

FOR EDUCATION BRANCH –

Candidate must have MA/M.Sc degree in any one of he following subjects :

English/Physics/Mathematics/Chemistry/Statistics/International Relations/International Studies/Defence Studies/Psychology/Computer Science/IT/Management/MBA/MCA/ Mass Communication/Journalism/Public Relations.

Also a candidate must have minimum 50 % marks in aggregate in all papers put together in Post-Graduation (minimum two years programme) and 60% marks in Graduation  (both recognised by UGC/Competent Accreditation Authority).

FOR METEOROLOGY BRANCH –

Post Graduation Degree in any stream i.e

science stream /Mathematics/Statistics/Geography/Computer Applications/Environmental Science/Applied Physics/Oceanography/Agricultural Meteorology/Ecology &Environment /Geo-physics/Environmental Biology.

A candidates should also have scored a minimum 50% marks in aggregate in all papers of Post Graduation put together (provided Maths & Physics were studied at Graduation level with a minimum of 55% marks in both).

Method of Selection :

  1. A candidate had to appear for AFCAT Test.
  2. Those candidate who is successful in qualifying test will be called for an interview (SSB)
  3. If a candidate is able to clear interview, then he had to undergo Medial Examination.
  4. If a candidate is also declared medically fit then he/she had to wait for Merit List, at last only those candidates whose name is there in Merit List will be selected.
